Problem Areas #1: Clothes that have been washed
I have a wash basket by the washing machine, where clothes that need washing go. That's fine and under control.

Then I wash them and hang them up to dry, which is also fine and under control.

But then... I'm useless!

They stay on the clothes dryer for ages. Then when I do my next wash and need to move them to dry the next lot, I pile them on the kitchen chair. Then, when I need the chair, I pile them on the stairs. The stairs piles grow and grow. I choose what clothes I want to wear from the piles!

I clearly need to get into better habits. The problems start when the clothes are dry. I always INTEND to take them straight upstairs to the bedroom when they are dry, but it never, ever happens.

Possible solutions:
1. put them on the stairs, but make sure that every time I go up the stairs I take them into the bedroom.

2. make sure I always choose what clothes to wear in the bedroom, then I might be more motivated to make sure my clothes are in there.

3. have a basket or container specifically for taking the clean, dry clothes upstairs. Piling them up in my arms as I currently do makes it difficult.

i can relate to this post extremely well. i have tried the laundry basket idea you mention as solution #3 a while ago when i was trying to figure out solutions for my disorder. however the laundry basket would get the clean folded or unfolded clothes in it, and then they would stay in there forever, making it unavailable for future loads. eventually i had several laundry baskets full of clean clothes. when i needed the baskets again, i would pile the clothes on chairs, the bed, and couch, because there was no room in my dressers or closets, or i had some notion that i was going to going through a dehoarding process before i put them away, but all those clothes are still there waiting. the real problem for me is that i have too many and i don't look forward to putting them away because there is no room to put them away. i have more than i could possibly ever get around to wearing. i have a month by month plan to tackle my house, and clothes are on the agenda for february. i am looking forward to seeing if i can make a noticeable change in my habits surrounding keeping clothes.

I would suggest a basket for the clean clothes to make it easier to bring them upstairs, and also it will look a lot tidier when in a basket than in a pile.
